The history of the Metro of Barcelona started in 1924 with only one line connecting Lesseps and Plaça Catalunya. Nowadays, Metro of Barcelona consist of 9 lines (163 stations), operated by two different institutions: TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona) and FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya)

Paral.lel – Pep Ventura
Zona Universitària – Trinitat Nova
Trinitat Nova – La Pau
Cornellà Centre - Horta
Trinitat Nova – Can Cuiàs

FGC lines:
Plaça Catalunya – Reina Elisenda
Plaça Catalunya – Av. Tibidabo
Plaça Espanya – Molí Nou-Cuitat Cooperativa


Funicular de Montjuïc (Montjuïc funicular) is also integtrated in the metro network of Barcelona, having a direct connection to the metro at the station Paral.lel.

Fridays and days prior to public holidays – 05.00 – 02.00
Saturdays and days prior to January 1, June 24, August 15, and September 24 – 24 hour service
December 24 – 05.00 – 23.00

Montjuïc funicular

Autumn/Winter:   
Monday to Friday – 07.30 – 20.00
Saturdays, Sundays, and bank holidays – 09.00 – 20.00


Spring/Summer:

Monday to Friday – 07.30 – 22.00
Saturdays, Sundays, and bank holidays – 09.00 – 22.00
